Have Broadband?

The music download giant Napster has recently launched an online music store, where internet users can download individual MP3's for a price of around 60p each, or 5 for a full album.

It's estimated at over 6 million tracks will be available to purchase, and be in the standard MP3 format, meaning they can be played on iPods, MP3 players, or burnt onto audio CD's. The new store by Napster is a direct competitor for Amazon and iTunes, which is currently the largest music retailer in the US.

This move by Napster will see the end of digital protection on studio tracks as more and more people wish to have the option of downloading directly onto portable music devices other than an iPod - currently iTunes uses Fairplay Digital Rights Management to prevent the use of their tracks being used on any other device.

Of course, downloading music will require a fast internet connection, which is where Broadband comes into its own. A 3.2Mb song could take just a minute or two with a high-speed broadband connection, whereas with a dial-up modem the same song could take around 20 minutes. And music downloads are just one benefit of broadband. With a faster connection you can also watch movies online, take part in web conferencing, and simply browse through websites faster. And with the advent of VoIP, you can even use a high-speed connection to talk online to others, free of charge. You can download the Skype software and use it to talk to other Skype users anywhere in the world without it costing you a penny.

Perhaps the area in which broadband really is indispensable is the world of online gaming. With games like Neverwinter Nights, World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy opening up to online players across the world, it's even more important to have a steady, fast connection. Because of the immense amount of people on a game server at any one time, a gamer needs a good connection to cope with it.

If you have broadband but aren't sure of what speed you're getting, run a broadband speed test online to find out. If your connection is slower than you thought, it may be worth taking time to compare broadband packages from other providers to see if you can get a better deal.

Reverse Cell Phone Directory - How To Find Cell Phone Numbers

If you're looking for the owner of a cell phone number, you have three options. You can:

1. Run your own cell phone number lookup

2. Hire a PI to trace the cell phone

3. Access a reverse cell phone number directory

Each of these strategies has it's own benefits - and it's own drawbacks. Let's take a look at each opportunity 1-by-1.

Option 1: Run Your Own Cell Phone Number Lookup

Most people start their search for a cell phone number by typing the number into Google or a major white pages directory like Whitepages.com or Anywho.com

This is a good place to start, but if you're looking for the owner of a cell phone number, it's probably not going to do anything for you.

If this doesn't work, you can do one of two things. You can either choose to move on and pay a few dollars for a premium lookup, or you can continue to search reverse directories for the cell phone number you are looking for.

Or, you can continue to search for the number on your own. This is a free solution... and it's really the ONLY free solution... so if you want to get the information without taking out your credit card.... Follow these steps:

  • Search Google/ Google.ca / Google.co.uk / etc. for the various formats of the number. (555-555-5555, 5555555555, 555/555/5555, 555.555.5555, etc.)
  • Search "complaint" networks like 800notes.com or WhoCalled.us to see if other people are looking for the number.
  • Search MySpace, Facebook, Bebo, and other social network pages for the number.
  • Search blogs and personal web pages for the cell phone number.
  • Call the number and ask who the owner is.
  • Post a notice on a site like WhoCallsMe.com asking who the owner is. If the phone owner ever searches their own number, they'll see the notice.
  • Search opt-in cell phone directories like NationalCellularDirectory.com. If the user registered their phone number, it may be included.
Time Required: 3-5 hours.

Cost: Free

Option 2: Hire A PI To Trace The Cell Phone

While searching for a phone number on your own takes a long time, and has a very small chance of success... hiring a PI is fast and you' can usually get the results you need... but you PAY A LOT for it!

Many private investigators charge nearly $100 for a single cell phone number lookup!

Why so expensive?

Well, when you hire a private investigator, you're paying 3 times for the service.

  • You're paying for their time
  • You're paying for the access to the information
  • You're paying for expertise of where to look.
Time Required: 10 Minutes

Cost: $100

Option 3: Access A Reverse Cell Phone Number Directory

In my opinion this is the best option... it's the "just right" fit between option 1 and option 3. There are many new reverse cell phone directories that can provide you with the information you're looking for quickly and eaily... but since you're running the search yourself, you don't have to pay a PI huge fees to run the search.

While these services do charge, the $15-$20 fee is far less than the $100 that a PI may charge... and when you consider all the time that you'd spend running the search alone... this search makes a lot of sense.

If you do choose to pay for access to a reverse cell phone directory, make sure that it comes with a money-back guarantee and provides customer support to customers. This means you won't pay for something that doesn't help you.

Time Required: 20 Minutes

Cost: $15

Protecting Your Online Privacy

The Internet sees millions of users logging on each and every day and more and more, the laws of the United States, and throughout the world, are struggling to keep up. With the explosion of the Internet over the last few years, with more people logging on for the first time each and every day, there is also an equal explosion of misuse of the Internet and crimes against people and property. These crimes include the misuse of this form of communication to other people - these crimes are called online harassment and cyberstalking.

Online harassment impacts the life of a person and makes them a victim. It is not uncommon for online harassment to have the victim fearing for their safety and security, having anxiety over the harassment and feeling a sense of insecurity, unpredictability and uncertainty about their every day life as someone begins to cyber stalk them.

The Internet is really a treasure trove for online harassment - people feel indestructible on the net and can feel familiar with people that they've "met" online. People talk freely about themselves and give a lot of information about them, more than they would to a stranger on the street.

While there is no simple definition of cyberstalking or online harassment, the most simple definition was made by Maxwell in 2001 which defines online harassment as "...the use of electronic communication including pagers, cell phones, emails and the Internet, to bully, threaten, harass, and intimidate a victim."

Currently, there are no laws or statutes that provide for online harassment; however there is a bill that has been filed with the United States Senate that would ban online harassment.

There are countless people who have 'jumped on the bandwagon' to promote the cyberstalking and online harassment and the need for a law that will ban and provide law that can be upheld in countless cases of these crimes. It seems, especially when you search the Internet for cyber stalking and online harassment that the target seems to be teenagers, and using social sites such as MySpace and FaceBook as well as a plethora of other social websites where people can post their profile and chat and meet other people in the 'community'.

Online harassment can be either direct or indirect. Direct online harassment would include threats, intimidating messages and bullying that is sent directly to a victim via email or other forms of online communication or by hindering the service of the Internet, such as hacking. Indirect online harassment includes rumor spreading in forums and social websites on the Internet, signing someone up for unwanted services or posting private information about a victim online without permission. If you ever get a call from a harassing number you can enter the phone number here to find out who owns it. Currently, this reverse phone service does not work with VoIP or Voice over Internet Protocol should your harasser be calling from over the internet.

How To Password Protect A USB Flash Drive

USB flash drives are great but how to password protect your USB flash drive just in case it gets lost?

Being able to carry around lots of files in a small device that easily fits your pocket is something fairly new to most of us. Until recently, we used floppy disks or burned information to a CD. But all that's changed with the advent of neat little USB flash drives that can hold gigabytes of data - ideal for the files that you need access to regardless of where you are.

Individual files can easily be password protected. PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, Access databases can all have a password set when you save them. This makes them reasonably safe from prying eyes. I say reasonably safe as nothing is completely uncrackable. Sorry.

But what do you do if you want to protect more of your files than just a few? Or if you'd prefer the convenience of only typing in one password and then everything it was protecting becomes available?

If you don't mind the hassle, there's a free program called Cryptania LE. It's easy enough to use and free to download but you need to split your USB drive up into 25Mb segments. Nowadays, that's pretty small. Just a handful of full resolution photographs from your digital camera, for instance.

Failing that, you will need to find a program that password protects individual folders on your flash drive. These programs are quite inexpensive and quite convenient.

Just remember the password you choose and don't keep it anywhere obvious. Which means that scribbles on the USB drive itself and Post-It notes would be bad ideas!

Find out more ways to password protect your USB flash drive and keep your confidential data safe and secure at http://www.squidoo.com/passwordprotectusb

How To Put Music On PSP - Step By Step Guide

One of the features available in PSP are the ability to play music files namely MP3 format. Certain PSP will also be able to play other types of music files such as Window very own WMA and WMV format, but we will get into that later. However these are restricted to newer version of PSP. This is a rundown on how to put music on PSP.

The steps taken is no different than transferring any files from your PC to PSP memory stick. In order to put music on PSP you will require a USB cable.

This is how you put music on PSP:

1. Connect your PSP with your PC using the USB cable.

2. Use your PSP interface and hit HOME button, and then go into Settings? Here you will have to use the directional button to find USB Connection?/p>

3. Once the connection is made, you will need to check your PCs available drives. You can do this by going into My Computer? Your PC should detect your PSP as and additional drive. It is not much different from using portable drive or thumb drives actually.

4. Click on your assigned PSP drive.

5. Create a new folder call music?on your PSP drive

6. Select your MP3 music from your PC and drag it into your music?folder on your PSP. Note that all this is done in your PC interface.

7. When all the desired MP3 are transferred, get out of the USB connection mode by pressing O?on your PSP.

8. Find the music area in your PSP, and select your memory stick. Search for your music?folder and you are good to go.

If you have other types of music format in your PC, i.e. WMV or WMA, you will need a converter to convert those files to MP3 format. Do not fret though, as Sony will also supply PSP user with its very own Image Converter. You can easily convert WMA and WMV files format into MP3 format and just repeat the whole process on how to put music on PSP.

On the other hand if you want to play WMV and WMA files without converting your files to MP3, you can always update your PSP firmware to the latest firmware. However, I would not recommend this (upgrading your PSP firmware) as it will severely limit your PSP experience. Some of the effect of upgrading your PSP firmware is that certain games you have will not work on your PSP with the latest firmware. There are forums dedicated to PSP downgrading as a lot of people want to revert back to their old firmware.

How to put music on your PSP??has been asked countless times and using PSP interface it is as easy as transferring files to your USB thumb drives. Hope this articles helps.

If your are looking for resource on the internet for music downloads on the internet please visit this site http://psp-downgrade-secrets.atspace.com/recommendation.htm Here you can find a lot of resources to further enhance your PSP experience.

Virtual Private Network In Banking!

How does Virtual Private Network service work in banking?

Whenever you use the internet through an Internet Service Provider (ISP) or at

services that are restricted to bank network addresses because your computer is
using an address from an external network.

But, if you are on the internet, you can still connect to the Bank's VPN service, in two ways. From a web browser or with a software VPN client. A VPN need not have explicit security features, such as authentication or content encryption. Virtual Private Network setup, can be used to separate traffic of different user communities over an underlying network with strong security features.
